This policy seeks to strengthen economic, social and territorial cohesion by reducing differences in development levels between the various territories within the European Union. Funded by the &#8220;European Regional Development Fund&#8221;\u00a0(ERDF), INTERREG has provided the framework for transnational, cross-border and inter-regional cooperation for over 25 years.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.interreg-gr.eu\/fr\/homepage_fr\/\"> INTERREG V A Greater Region<\/a> programme supports cross-border cooperation projects between local and regional stakeholders from territories within the Greater Region.<\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"465\" src=\"http:\/\/smartlighthub.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Logo-Interreg-Smart-Light-Hub-1024x465.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-469\" srcset=\"http:\/\/smartlighthub.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Logo-Interreg-Smart-Light-Hub-1024x465.png 1024w, http:\/\/smartlighthub.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Logo-Interreg-Smart-Light-Hub-300x136.png 300w, http:\/\/smartlighthub.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Logo-Interreg-Smart-Light-Hub-768x348.png 768w, http:\/\/smartlighthub.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Logo-Interreg-Smart-Light-Hub-1536x697.png 1536w, http:\/\/smartlighthub.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Logo-Interreg-Smart-Light-Hub-1200x544.png 1200w, http:\/\/smartlighthub.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Logo-Interreg-Smart-Light-Hub.png 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 1362px) 62vw, 840px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n<h6 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><em>Joint reflection on the problem of light pollution and its impact on biodiversity<\/em><\/strong><\/h6>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Smart Light-Hub is an Interreg V A Greater Region project aimed at prompting<strong>collective responses to unmet artificial lighting requirements<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The project also seeks to boost <strong>cross-border cooperation<\/strong> in the Greater Region by generating inter-operator synergies in order to define an <strong>innovative, ecosystem-friendly, economically viable and creative strategy for lighting in public and private spaces<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Research and Development aim to generate specific solutions, with a particular focus on delivering results to combat light pollution and energy losses.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The initiative stets itself apart by its integrated approach to artificial lighting, which takes into account both energy criteria and criteria associated with the preservation of biodiversity.<\/p>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><em>Several partners working using a common method<\/em><\/strong><\/h6>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Smart Light Hub project brings together 4 <strong>operating partners <\/strong>from 3 Greater Region areas : the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uliege.be\/\">University of Li\u00e8ge<\/a> (ULi\u00e8ge), the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni-trier.de\/index.php?id=1&amp;L=2\">University of Tr\u00eaves<\/a> (UTri\u00ebr), the not-for-profit organisation, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.natagora.be\/\">Natagora<\/a>, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tnt-chiers-alzette.eu\/\">Territoire Naturel Transfrontalier<\/a> (TNT).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">They are supported by <strong>methodology partners<\/strong> providing logistical, intellectual and relational support. These include the <a href=\"https:\/\/alac.lu\/\">Agence Luxembourgeoise d\u2019Action Culturelle<\/a> (ALAC &#8211; Luxembourg Agency for Cultural Action), the \u201cthird place\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bliiida.fr\/\">Bliiida<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.naturpark-our.lu\/\">Parc Naturel de l\u2019Our<\/a> (Our Natural Park).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">All of these partners have the same objectives, namely :<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>The setting up of a <strong>cross-border network<\/strong> (<strong>Hub<\/strong>) specialising in light pollution and its impacts on biodiversity;<\/li>\n<li>The development and provision of exemplary, inspiring <strong>prototypes<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>The creation of a mobile work and exhibition space (<strong>Lab<\/strong>) made from repurposed shipping <strong>containers<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>The creation of a <strong>sustainable structure <\/strong>with voluntary stakeholders.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Collaboration between these partners is based on a common method, whilst drawing on the specific skills of each partner :<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><strong>Natagora <\/strong>is conducting a <strong>field study<\/strong> to test various lamps in several biotopes;<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>University of Li\u00e8ge<\/strong> is organising &#8220;Art-Science-Entrepreneurship&#8221; <strong>awareness and co-creation sessions <\/strong>(hybridisation workshops) to generate innovative, inspiring lighting devices;<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>TNT <\/strong>is making its parks available for use as <strong>demonstration <\/strong>and <strong>awareness-raising areas to <\/strong>highlight the problem and potential solutions;<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>University of Tr\u00eaves<\/strong> is working on raising awareness and <strong>disseminating<\/strong> information to economic stakeholders and the market per se.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Smart Light Hub project, which was initially set to run for 36 months (2019-2021) but has been extended to the 31st of december 2022, has a budget of \u20ac1,777,651.70.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>INTERREG GR : Boosting the competitive edge and appeal of the Greater Region INTERREG, a &#8220;European Territorial Cooperation&#8221; (ETC) programme, comes under the framework of the EU\u2019s Cohesion Policy.
