Conference : “Des lumières dans la nuit”
13/03/2020 @ 19:30 - 21:00 CET
Today, too much artificial light is visible from space demonstrating its magnitude. Scientists from different disciplines like our fellow citizens are more and more numerous to point the finger at the negative effects of this pollution: energy waste, impact on human health (sleep disorders, etc.), regression of biodiversity, limited access to the starry sky which hinders astronomical research as a simple visual access to the starry sky…
Following the success of “La Nuit est belle !” », On September 26, the City of Carouge welcomes Eric ACHKAR, President of the Astronomical Society of Geneva and Pascal MOESCHLER, Curator at the Museum of Natural History of Geneva and Director of the Center for the study and protection of bats (CCO) for an original conference on the impacts of light pollution on our environment and possible improvements. For the first time, it mixes astronomical, biological, historical and sociological issues and provides practical solutions often based on common sense.
